About Tours

Walking Tours

• For ages 5 years and older (the tours can be too lengthy and in-depth for very young children)
• Tour Length: 1.5 hours
• Admission Fees: Please see the Oakland Zoo Admission page for detailed information.
• Additional cost for Walking Tour: 1-20 people = $40.00 / 21-40 people = $60.00
• Group Discounts: Discount available for groups of 12 or more with advance reservations.

Docent Cart Tours

• For ages 5 years and older (the tours can be too lengthy and in-depth for very young children).
• Tour Length: 1.5 hours
• Capacity: 5 people
• Admission Fees: Please see the Oakland Zoo Admission page for detailed information.
• Additional cost for Cart Tour: 1-10 people = $40.00
• Please note: These tours are for visitors with disabilities or physical challenges.

* Please note that Docent Tours are available for the Lower Zoo only. California Trail is not currently available for tours.

Reservations

When to Book

Our programs are very popular, so we recommend that you email your request 2-3 weeks in advance of the date you would like to reserve. We cannot accommodate requests for bookings less than two weeks prior to the event.

Please note: Docent Tours are not available on weekends, holidays or during special events.

How to Book

Please complete the Docent Tour Request Form and email it to our Operations Coordinator of Learning & Engagement at EducationReservations@oaklandzoo.org

Payment

Payment of tour fees are required at least 14-days prior to the reservation date.  Admission and parking fees can be paid upon arrival for your tour. Zoo admission must be paid before the tour begins and your receipt must be shown to your Docent Guide.

Cancelations

Please note that once you register and pay your tour fee, we will not be able to provide refunds for cancelations.
